Last week I visited the new exhibition at Pātaka after seeing some posts about it on instagram. Have been engaging in a lot of moving image work of late - also went to the opening of māori moving image: an open archive at the dowse and saw a bunch of stuff from lots of people (except shannon??) and am interested in seeing Christopher Ulutupu's work at enjoy if its still up.
Have had a little bit of a block in terms of creative flow. The essay has been heavy on my mind and has taken up a lot of my attention which is draining and unproductive really. been trying to read stuff and think of ideas - which is slowly starting to get better.
last thursday Wendy and Daniel from the fablab took Hemi, Kauri, Rongomaiaia and myself through an induction into the space and that was a lot of information to take in but has been really good for me. I saw the cnc router and also the different ways of producing in that space. it's gonna take some time for me to get my head around using Adobe suite but i'll just have to suck it up.
computer based work is not my preferred way of making - have successfully avoided using adobe for 5 years, but i see now how much easier it can make my life if i just spend a little time with it. plus one of my goals for this masters project was to find ways to streamline my production and getting on to the cnc router would be significant.
also thinking about other ways of making
- embroidery
- weaving/knitting
- drawing
- metal
also on the last masterclass before the break. nice
