MARTIN P'S MASTERCLASS + WEEK2

I printed off every single reading Martin issued, and while my heart felt a lil sting from all the paper I had just used, I enjoyed the brief and eclectic nature of them and the first person narration. This type of writing is probably my preferred way to engage with because it doesn't really feel like I'm reading something for an academic purpose but I'm still getting something from it. It's like normal reading I guess. We were asked to write a quick little response, I was a little stuck with how to go about this and was about to critically respond to it. After hearing a couple of the responses from the class it was pretty clear I was on a totally different tangent. I thought about it for a little while after class and decided to jot down a couple lines for my sanity and so that I felt involved in the class activity hehe.

I'd come into this weeks masterclass a little bit distracted with the events of this week.

With everything that is happening with Mauna Kea and Ihumātao I couldn't help but be a little preoccupied with my thoughts. It's so powerful what is happening in Aotearoa and Hawaii, having only learnt about things like this (Bastion Point) in my first years of university it's overwhelming to see and feel the urgency of the situation. Never in my life have I heard and felt a call for help so strong till literally a few days ago. I'm usually really good at ignoring things that actually need attention, but this hits different to the rest, literally hurts my head there is no way for me to ignore it. I'm feeling a little bit pouri about it but staying optimistic about the outcome of this demonstration.

In the afternoon I was super lucky and got to meet and spend some time with Kura. It was pretty cool learning about and seeing what she has been working on over the last 5 years and I'm not allowed to say anything about it but it was super cool and really inspiring to see. She also sent me a reading about Tukutuku and told me she did her Masters project on tukutuku and to ask her any questions.

Seeing that mahi was a really nice way to end the week
